Description:
Ketoprofen lysine belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The lysine salt of ibuprofen is more water-soluble than ibuprofen itself and it is said to pass into the blood more quickly. The medicine breaks down to Ketoprofen and lysine. The lysine component has no action of its own. It works by blocking the production of chemicals called prostaglandins which the body produces in response to injury or certain diseases. Prostaglandins are responsible for causing swelling, pain and inflammation. All the medicines in this group reduce pain, inflammation and fever caused by the body's own immune system. This preparation is therefore useful in providing relief in individuals with muscle and joint pain, nerve pain, backache, migraines, headaches, tooth ache, period pain, fever and cold and flu symptoms.
